Reminders:
- School starts at 8.45am and finishes at 3.15pm.
- All clothes, including coats, should be labelled with your child's name.
- Please let us know if someone different will be collecting your child from school.
- Phonics videos will be set on Tapestry each week for your child to watch, carefully matched to your child's current phonic knowledge. Please watch these with your child each week.
- Strive for reading at home 5 times a week - this includes practising sounds, reading our Phonics books, reading library books and books from home.
- PE takes place every Thursday afternoon. Your child is to come to school in their school PE kit and some trainers/pumps for when we complete our PE sessions outside.
- Please remove all earrings for our PE and Forest School sessions.
- Forest School takes place every Monday afternoon. For Forest School, your child is to come to school dressed in their forest school clothing. They will need to wear outdoor clothes, coat and shoes that are ok to get muddy/wet. We have waterproofs and wellies your child can borrow, though they are more than welcome to bring their own. Your children will also need to bring spare clothes (including socks!) in case theirs get wet or muddy and a plastic bag for their dirty clothes/shoes.

EYFS / Year 1 Literacy Book List
Autumn
In the Autumn term, we cover 3 overarching topics: Me And My World, My Heroes and Standing Ovation. Our class will also experience topics such as seasonal changes and everyday materials in Science, mini mappers in Geography and local history; community and family in history. In art we will be looking at architecture and we will be making salads in DT. In RE, we will be looking at why the bible is such a special book and comparing this to the Muslim religion. As we approach Christmas, we will also be exploring why the birth of Jesus was such good news. We also explore the celebration of Diwali. In computing, we will be exploring IT around us and creating media through digital photography. In music we will be covering the topics of 'Hands, Feet, Heart' and 'Ho, Ho, Ho'. In PE, we venture into our wildlife area to complete outdoor learning, alongside learning how to play cricket and practise our gymnastics skills. In PSHE, we will be valuing differences and looking at ourselves and our relationships.
Spring
In the Spring term, we cover 2 overarching topics: Castle, Knights and Dragon and Spring In Our Step. Our class will also experience topics such as humans and use of materials in Science. In Geography we will look at where we are, and in History we will explore where people lived in the past. We will get creative in Art looking at colour and tone, and in DT we will be experimenting with wheels and axis. In RE we will be discussing why Jesus welcomed everyone and then move on to the celebration of Easter. We will be exploring religious traditions and celebrations this term, looking at Ramadan, Chinese New Year and Shrove Tuesday. In Music, we will be learning the topics 'Zoo Time' and 'I Wanna Be In a Band' and in Computing we will be experimenting with robot algorithms and pictograms. We will be building our skills in PE whilst learning about gymnastics, ball skills, dance and continuing to enhance our gross motor skills in our outdoor learning. In PSHE, we will be looking at how to keep safe and learn our rights and the importance of respect.
Summer
In the Summer term, we cover 2 overarching topics: Castle, Knights and Dragon and Spring In Our Step. Our class will also experience topics such as solids, liquids and gases in Science and consolidating Scientific topics we have learned throughout the year. In History we will be immersing ourselves in the topic of the Great Fire of London and in Geography we will be exploring rivers, seas and oceans. In Art we will be painting water and in DT we will be making our own glove puppets. In RE, we will be exploring why the church is such a special place for Christians and then move on to learning where Muslims pray. In Music we will be getting in to the rhythm of the friendship song and reflect, rewind and replay. In Computing, we will be creating media through digital music and programming our own quizzes and in PE we will be developing our skills in athletics, yoga and outdoor learning. Finally, in PE we will be looking at how we can be the best that we can be and growing and changing.
